Hello and welcome to everyone. This week I have a whole bag full of interesting websites to introduce. There is no theme this month, just a wide assortment of fun and interesting things. Hopefully there will be something for everyone.
I came across this collection of listening games for small children. There are some great little game-like activities to help kids remember some basic vocabulary for sports or weather.. http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids-listen-up.htm
This nice little video article from the New York Times shows in audio and pictures the life of girls at high-achieving high schools in the US. The images show scenes from daily life at the high school and the audio talks about the challenges and stresses of being a young woman in our times. Good for girl power!

Next, here is a site that features an interactive lesson based on role playing in major league baseball. It’s a little difficult, but very engaging if you know about baseball. http://www.roanoke.com/sports/homestand/multimedia/interactive.html
And lastly, I recently read Brian Wansink’s book Mindless Eating. He’s a professor who studies how people eat and the book contains the results of interesting experiments he has done regarding people and eating (and overeating!). Many of the key points of the book have been made into lesson plans and worksheets that we can use in our class to talk about eating habits. You can download MS Word versions and edit them or a little translation or explanation before you bring them to class. Most of the topics include interesting findings of human eating habits and advice for how we can eating better.

That’s it for this month. Have a happy holiday everyone and see you in the new year.
