========================□■
Hello. In the past I introduced some language courses available on the web including the FSI site with courses for more than 20 different languages. Unfortunately, English wasn’t one of the courses available. http://fsi-language-courses.com/

Today, however, I’d like to introduce some sites that have appeared recently offering lessons and courses in a smaller number of languages but including English. These sites offer interesting basic language lessons that are well designed and deployed. They are still new and still in beta format and so many of the lessons can be tried for free still. That will likely change in the future.

The first is TryMango at http://www.trymango.com/ While the course for English is not specifically for Japanese speakers of English, it is still fun to try. There are also some other languages available, including, Spanish, Russian, French, and German.

The next is LiveMocha, which calls itself the social way to learn languages and aims to create a system where learners of different languages help each other to learn. It’s an interesting concept and might be fun for some of our students. http://www.livemocha.com/

Finally, if you have a few free minutes, please have a listen to the next WorldCALL 3 interview that I did with Francoise Blin, the co-chair of the organizing committee for the conference. http://www.j-let.org/~wcf/modules/tinyd3/index.php?id=1

That’s it for this month.
